What the extension does

Book Summarizer generates AI summaries from a book title and optional author that you enter. It does not read websites, upload files, or require an account.

AI requests

When you ask for a summary, your book title, chosen language, and detail level are sent to our API at book.summarizer.one, then to OpenRouter and its model provider to generate the answer. Internet access is required. Provider data handling is subject to their policies: OpenRouter privacy policy. Do not submit confidential or personal information.

On your device

The last book, generated summary, language preference, and a randomly generated installation identifier are stored locally in Chrome extension storage. The Clear button removes the current book and summary. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage. Exported files remain wherever you saved them.

Usage limits and reliability

Our server receives your IP address, installation identifier, client version, request identifier, and technical request information. We use these for abuse prevention, usage limits, and reliability. Server quota records are retained for up to 30 days. Unresolved requests keep a conservative cost reservation; failed requests do not use your successful-summary quota.

Anonymous product analytics

We record installation and update events, opening the interface, starting and completing generation, errors or cancellation, and copy/export actions. Events include a random identifier, extension version, language, detail level, and technical status. Book titles, generated summaries, clipboard contents, and filenames are not included. Events are sent through our API to our MonoApps analytics service. Pending delivery events are retained for at most 7 days. Analytics does not block generation.

Your choices

No advertising, sale of user data, subscriptions, or payment processing is included. You may clear your saved summary or uninstall the extension at any time. AI-generated text may be inaccurate.
